NEXTGEN CAMP BOOSTS LANGUAGE SKILLS AMONG UMPSA STAFF'S CHILDREN

Pekan, 30 May 2025 – A total of 59 children aged 10 to 12 participated in the NextGen Camp, a school holiday programme organised by the Centre for Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). The programme was designed for the children of UMPSA staff and aimed to build communication confidence and introduce multilingual skills through interactive sessions.

UMPSA GLOBAL CLASSROOM: BRIDGING BORDERS WITH A GUEST SPEAKER FROM THE UNITED STATES

PEKAN, 23 April 2025 - The pursuit of global perspectives took centre stage at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) during a Global Classroom session organised by the Centre of Instructional Resources & e-Learning (CIReL) in collaboration with the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), UMPSA. This meaningful virtual session connected 55 UMPSA diploma and degree students with a distinguished international guest speaker from the United States through the Microsoft Teams platform. It was conducted for 2 hours. All these students are currently enrolling in the English for Academic Communication course this semester. 

PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA MELAYU BERASASKAN PENGALAMAN PELANCONGAN

Pengajaran Bahasa Melayu kini mengalami satu transformasi inovatif dengan pengenalan pendekatan berasaskan simulasi situasi di lapangan terbang. Pendekatan ini direka khas untuk menarik minat pelajar antarabangsa di Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) serta pelajar sekolah di kawasan sekitar. Melalui sesi pengajaran yang interaktif dan kontekstual ini, pelajar didedahkan kepada penggunaan bahasa dalam situasi sebenar yang praktikal, sekaligus meningkatkan kefahaman dan kemahiran komunikasi mereka dalam Bahasa Melayu.

ENHANCING OPINION ESSAY WRITING: SUCCESSFUL GLOBAL CLASSROOM SESSION ON TRANSITIONAL MARKERS

PEKAN, 13 May 2025 - A successful Global Classroom (GC) session focusing on transitional markers in opinion essays was conducted via Google Meet. The GC session was organised by ULE1352 Essential English and ULE1310 Fundamentals of English Language courses and conducted by two instructors, Siti Ainun Jariyah Hassan and Nurul Nadia Muhammad. The session featured a special guest speaker, Ms. M.C. Dayani Siriwardana, an accomplished English Teacher from St.Mary's College, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. In addition, she also actively collaborates with international platforms such as Class2Class.org, Global Classroom, and AWTE Intellectual Exchange sessions.  

FOSTERING INNOVATION: CML VISITS UTP FOR ACADEMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL INSIGHTS

SERI ISKANDAR, 23 April 2025- In a continuous effort to strengthen academic collaboration and innovation, a delegation from Centre for Modern Languages (CML) which include three language instructors, Arulselvi Uthayakumaran, Nabila Abdul Malek, and Wan Noor Farah Wan Shamsuddin made a fruitful visit to the Centre for Academic Excellence (CAdEx), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The primary objective of this visit was to benchmark the practices at the Centre for Academic Excellence (CAdEx) and to engage in discussions on the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) in UTP classrooms. This benchmarking visit is particularly important as the CML is in the process of developing a new Language Hub, a one-stop centre aimed at helping students enhance their English proficiency.
