CML EXCEEDS 2024 TARGETS WITH 20 MICRO-CREDENTIALS

PEKAN, 13 February 2025 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has achieved a major milestone by developing 20 micro-credentials since 2021, surpassing the university’s initial target of eight. This accomplishment places CML ahead of 10 other faculties and centres, making a significant impact on UMPSA’s 2021-2025 key performance indicators (KPIs).

A dedicated team of 35 subject matter experts (SMEs) played a crucial role in developing these modules, ensuring quality through systematic planning, validated by the Ministry, MQA, and UMPSA, with CIReL’s support. The modules cover a range of topics, including technical presentations, public speaking, linguistics, language in society, and sustainability in education. They are available on UMPSA’s e-learning platform, TINTA (https://tinta.ump.edu.my), for students and associates.

EMPOWERING LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

PEKAN, 4 January 2025 - Mandarin Language Society (MLS) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has successfully organized a one-day Leadership Workshop on 4 January 2025 at Dewan Kuliah Utama, Centre for Modern Languages, UMPSA Pekan. The program was held to enhance leadership skills, organizational management, and social etiquette among participants, fostering better collaboration among society members. This workshop was attended by 35 participants from Gambang and Pekan campuses. The event focused on sharing valuable insights on club and program management, financial planning, entrepreneurship, and effective communication in multimedia and social media. 

CML STAFF IN ACTION: GEARING UP FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE WITH TTX!

PEKAN, 18 February 2024 – The Occupational Safety and Health Management Office (OSHMO), UMPSA organised the Emergency Tabletop Exercise (TTX) Course at the Incubator Area, Level 5, Faculty of Computing, UMPSA Pekan. The participants included representatives from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee from various centres and faculties at UMPSA. Representing the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) were Mohd Aizat Zulkifli, Siti Norzaimalina Abd Majid, and Siti Ainun Jariyah Hassan.

DEL CONFIRMATION OF MARKS AND PRE-JPF MEETINGS SEMESTER 1 2024/2025

PEKAN, 17-19 February 2025 - The Division of English Language (DEL), Centre for Modern Languages (CML) conducted Confirmation of Marks (CoM) meetings from 17 to 18 February 2025 and Pre-JPF meeting on 19 February 2025 at CML meeting rooms. These meetings involved three diploma courses, and 11 bachelor’s degree courses offered in Semester 1, 2024/2025. 

A JOURNEY THROUGH LANGUAGE, FAITH AND HERITAGE: VISITING KLANG'S CHINESE MUSLIM MOSQUE

KLANG, 28 December 2024 – The Chinese Language Society has successfully organised a learning trip to Klang accompanied by the Centre for Modern Languages, CML Mandarin language teachers, Lee Cheng May. The goal of this event was to strengthen the connection between society members from Gambang and Pekan campuses, while also promoting intercultural exchange. A special part of the trip included a visit to the newly built Chinese Mosque in Klang, which was completed in July 2024. This visit aimed to give students a chance to understand the differences between Chinese mosques and traditional Malay mosques, as well as offer non-Muslim students a deeper insight into Islamic culture.
