UNLOCKING RESEARCH POTENTIAL: INFORMATION SEARCH STRATEGY FOR STUDENT INFORMATION MASTERY

27 March – Research skills among students are not something new. Commonly introduced at the university level, these skills aim to empower students with the ability to conduct research, evaluate and use information effectively for academic or practical purposes. In accordance with this, 27 students from UHE3142 Project-Based Proposal Writing course had participated in an “Information Search Strategy” class organised by UMPSA Library as part of the User Education Programme. This session was held concurrently in both UMPSA Pekan and Gambang Libraries, accommodating students from both campuses. This two-hour class aimed to expose and improve students’ research skills, focusing on how to effectively search for information, journal articles, and academic references.

YAYASAN UMPSA SCHOLARSHIP 2024: ENGLISH WRITTEN TEST

26 April 2024 - It remains a dream for many students to secure funding for their studies without enduring the strain of part-time jobs or burdening their parents. Among the standard prerequisites for scholarship eligibility is proficiency in English language. This criterion ensures that applicants can effectively participate in English-medium coursework, lectures, and other academic activities at the university. Moreover, strong English skills indicate an applicant's capability to adapt to diverse cultural and academic contexts, a quality highly sought after in candidates poised for success in varied settings.

FROM HIROSHIMA TO PAHANG: A GLOBAL LEARNING INITIATIVE WITH HIROSHIMA UNIVERSITY FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Gambang, 23 April 2024- More than 130 students enrolled in UHL2432 English for Professional Communication participated in a Global Classroom session via Microsoft Teams, organised by four instructors, under the guidance of Ms. Marziah Ramli as the course coordinator. The session was also facilitated by Ms Wan Noor Farah Wan Shamsuddin, Ms. Siti Asma’ Yaacob, and Ms. Nur Anisnabila Dianah. It was a privilege to welcome Assistant Professor Dr. Wang Tingjia from Hiroshima University’s Writing Centre as the invited speaker.

PREPARING FOR SUCCESS: INSIGHTS FROM THE MUET BRIEFING SESSION

26 April 2024 – A briefing session for candidates of the Malaysia University English Test (MUET) was conducted via Microsoft Teams on 26 April 2024 at 10.00 am. The session was organised by the Competency Unit of the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) and led by Ms. Siti Ainun Jariyah Hassan, the Coordinator for MUET at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Pekan campus. Its purpose was to prepare students with important information for examinations, which were scheduled for the following day.
