CSR PROGRAMME - TRILINGUAL READING CAMP WITH SJK(C) PEI CHAI

10 December 2022 – Kate DiCamillo has quoted that, reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty but should be offered to them as a precious gift at which the quote relates well with the main objective of the Trilingual Reading Camp: to provide the primary students an opportunity to learn Malay, English and Chinese language in a thematic and interesting way.

For this reason, Mandarin Language Society (MLS) has organised a Trilingual Reading Camp in collaboration with SJK (C) Pei Chai and Hu Miao Studio that took place in SJK (C) Pei Chai, Kuantan from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

MICRO-CREDENTIAL: DIGITAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP 2022

7 October 2022 – E – Learning Unit, Centre for Modern Languages (CML), UMP has successfully organised a two-day Micro-Credential: Digital Content Development Workshop for selected CML academic courses on 29 - 30 September 2022 at Seminar Room 2, UMP Pekan Library.

The objective of this workshop is to encourage the CML teaching staff involved to focus more on developing and completing the digital content of the Micro-Credential academic courses which was targeted by the university to be ready by October 2022. All in all, 5 undergraduate courses and 4 postgraduate courses are in the development process.

VIRTUAL ESCAPE ROOM TRAINING

6 October 2022 – A short training on an online platform was conducted on Wednesday 5th October 2022 by the newest addition to the pool of talented staff in the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) – Dr. Umi Kalsom Masrom, who has been in the education industry for 12 years already.

The two-hour session was hosted by the Head of Foreign Language Department, Dr. Wan Jumani Fauzi and she made the session light and relaxed. Two hours passed very quickly but all the participants learned a lot.

TRAINING OF FACILITATORS SERIES 1

23 September 2022 – “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn”. This quote by Benjamin Franklin has been tried and true for educators. For the teacher, facilitation entails a more active classroom, and students’ live participation confirms progress in the learning outcomes. Discourse on students as facilitators and its practice, however, has not been given much focus.

LEARN TO COMMUNICATE PROFESSIONALLY AND PROFICIENTLY!

13 & 14 June 2022 - Being able to communicate professionally and proficiently in English is integral to positive professional, and personal development, as English continues to be one of the leading languages used globally.

On the 13th and 14th June 2022, the English Communication for Workplace programme was conducted by associates from the Centre for Modern Languages, Ms. Amy Zulaikha Mohd Ali and Ms. Nur Sabrina Zafiran Mohd Jamil at the Library Executive Lounge in UMP Pekan, and the programme was attended by UMP staff from various faculties and departments.
