PARALLEL SESSIONS AT ICOLLT 4.0 2024: A TRIUMPH IN COLLABORATION AND INNOVATION

The International Conference on Language Learning and Teaching (ICoLLT) 4.0 2024 was successfully held on May 20-21, 2024, at Perdana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Organised by Centre for Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Malaysia, in collaboration with Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMC), Vietnam, the conference brought together scholars and researchers from across the region.

The event featured three parallel sessions on the first day, held in four rooms: Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby, which served as the main hall. The first session, held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, featured four presentations in each room, bringing to a total of 16 paper presentations. The second parallel session commenced at 2:15 PM and lasted until 3:30 PM, with five presentations in each room, adding up to 20 presentations. The third session continued from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, covering eight more presentations in each room, making up to 32 paper presentations. Overall, the conference featured 58 paper presentations, including 19 virtual and 39 physical presentations.

Each room and session focused on different themes of paper presentations. The five themes covered were Teaching and Learning Language and Literature (TLLTS), Technology-Enhanced Language Learning and Teaching (TELLT), Digital Storytelling and Communication (DSC), Online Learning Environments (OLE), and Language and Cultural Diversity (LCD). This thematic diversity allowed for a rich exchange of ideas and research findings, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in these fields.

A team of 12 moderators, working closely with technical teams, conducted the sessions, ensuring the smooth flow of paper presentations. These moderators were associates from the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) at UMPSA and a postgraduate student, reflecting a blend of experienced and emerging academic talents. Their expertise and guidance were instrumental in maintaining the quality and organisation of the conference.

Indeed, ICoLLT 4.0 2024 demonstrated the collaborative spirit and academic excellence of UMPSA, UAD, and HCMC, making it a significant event for scholars in the region. The successful conduct of the conference highlighted the importance of international cooperation in academic research and the ongoing commitment to advancing the fields of language learning and teaching. This event has set a high standard for future collaborations and paved the way for innovative approaches in language education.
