Mandarin Language Society (MLS) had successfully organized a Mandarin Language learning event named “Mentor-Mentee Mandarin Programme” from 20th March to 10th April 2021 (on every Saturday), at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This program was held through online platform via Google Meet within the duration of 4 weeks.
On 5 March 2021, the Competency Unit of Centre for Modern Languages, in conjunctions with the Unit of Human Resources Development of UMP have arranged for UMP English Proficiency Test (UMP EPT). The test was conducted at Training Hall 1, Information and Communication Technology Centre in UMP Pekan Campus.
11 February 2021- Since the outbreak of Covid-19 a year ago, the pandemic has changed the way we live our lives. In spite of all the chaos and yet another round of lockdowns across the nation, Competency Unit of Centre for Modern Languages (CML) managed to organise a free MUET online speaking class to accommodate UMP MUET candidates with the necessary preparation particularly because the first time the new format is used. The test is scheduled from 17th until 25th, February 2021.
A virtual class named "Global Classroom" was held for UHF2192 Malay for Communication course on March 10, 2021 at 1pm to 3pm (Malaysia time). The instructor of this class is Puan Juwairiah Osman who is also the course coordinator. The guest lecturer for this class was Professor Dr. Toru Ueda from Setsunan University, Neyagawa, Osaka, Japan.
On 6 March and 21 March 2021, several Centre for Modern Languages (CML) staffs had volunteered to manage the process of students’ physical admission to the campus. Staffs who volunteered have worked together to assist the University Health Center (PKU) in conducting health screenings on students who return to campus. According to Najjahul Huda and Jamilah Bebe, the opportunity to volunteer when the country is facing a Covid-19 pandemic is a lifetime opportunity because it requires a strong spirit and high sacrifice.
