MUET REGISTRATION NOW IN ECOMM!
The Competency Unit, an executive unit under Centre for Modern Languages (CML) has successfully developed a new system for the UMP community to register and make payment for their Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
The new system helps not only the community but benefits the administrative personnel in the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) who are responsible in ensuring the registration is done smoothly and effectively at the time given by the Malaysian Examination Council (MPM).
The previous practice of registration was tedious and time consuming which made the registration process troublesome and took so much time. The registration process involved collecting information from registered students using Google form and cross-checking receipt payment made by students through BSN.
The proposal of creating the system was done early of 2022. Dr Fatimah Ali, the deputy dean of Academic Affair chaired the first meeting which involved the Competency Unit and Centre of Information and Communication Technology (PTMK) to kick start the project.
It was then followed by proposal preparation where Ms. Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali was appointed to head the project and assisted by the Competency Unit coordinator, Ms. Noor Azlinda Zainal Abidin.
Other Competency Unit members have also contributed to giving ideas to design a proper system for MUET in E-comm. Mr. Tarmizi from PTMK has been very helpful in ensuring the proposal was completed before it was proposed in the technical meeting for approval.
It took nearly 6 to 8 months to develop the system. In June 2022, the payment feature in E-comm was successfully created and used by candidates of Session 3 2022 to make their payment.
Later in October and November 2022, a few virtual meetings took place to update on the progress of the project where Ms. Fadhilah Husna from PTMK as the system developer presented the work in progress of the project to the Competency unit members. Ms. Nurul Syazwani and Ms. Erma Yanti, the administrative personnel in CML have given responses based on their experience in MUET registration.
The feedback in making the system better were used as reference by PTMK and in December, the system was ready to be used for MUET Session 1 2023 registration.
The system itself has somehow made the process of registration MUET become easier and hassle free. It reduces the chances of errors – both in filling the form as well as in the processing stage and helps save time for everyone.
However, the Competency Unit is looking forward to accepting feedback and comments from users to make the system better and user-friendly. The MUET registration system was indeed something which the UMP community needed to be aware of and utilized. The Competency Unit is always ready to serve the community at our best.
