GLOBAL CLASSROOM: DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF SPANISH

The Division of Foreign Languages at the Centre for Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), successfully hosted a Global Classroom (GC) session for the UHF1151 Spanish for Beginners course on April 1, 2023, utilizing MS Teams as the platform.

This session was specifically designed for students who had enrolled in the Spanish course during Semester 2 of the 2022/2023 academic year, with the participation of a total of 100 students.

This time around, the Spanish course GC session featured an invited international lecturer, Señora Marta Alonso Garcia from Salamanca, Spain, to teach the topic "The Family in Spain” to the students.

In addition to the main topic, Señora Marta also provided some authentic insight into the Spanish culture. The students were so excited with this session, and they actively engaged with the invited speakers, and asked various questions to her using the Spanish language.

Student representative, Aiden, expressed his satisfaction with the session, and claimed that, “It was a good exposure for students to learn Spanish with native speakers. Now, we feel that we can speak Spanish better, more confident, and the GC was very exciting.”

This wonderful GC session was conducted under the supervision of Señora Azlina, the Spanish for Beginners course, who also took on the role as the session’s moderator.

It is hoped that there will be more opportunities like this in the future, providing students with both fun, and beneficial experiences in their foreign language learning journey.
