"UNVEILING ARABIC HORIZONS: UMPSA'S GLOBAL CLASSROOM EXPLORES LANGUAGE AND CULTURE!"

The Centre for Modern Languages at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah recently hosted a ground-breaking Advanced Global Classroom (GC) event. Conducted on April 18, 2023, via Microsoft Teams, this event brought together enthusiastic UMPSA students enrolled in the Arabic for Beginners (UHF1141) course for Semester II 2022/2023.

Attracting attention and accolades was the esteemed presence of Mr. Ahmed Taiseer Farghaly, the distinguished owner of Abidos Factory in Egypt and a revered part-time cinematographer in Cairo. Mr. Farghaly mesmerised the audience with an engaging and enlightening discourse on the topic of ‘Professions’.

The meticulously planned event was orchestrated by the proficient duo of Ms. Rosjuliana Hidayu Rosli and Ms. Mardhiyyah Zamani, the instructors behind the Arabic for Beginners course.

The event was warmly received by the students, witnessing an overwhelming turnout, as a cohort of 120 students actively immersed themselves in the session, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of engagement.

One of the participants, Nurul Najihah Mohd Nadzmi conveyed her sentiment, stating, "It is a good exposure for the students to learn about the Arabic language with a native speaker."

Additionally, Ahmad Aiman expressed his gratitude, emphasising the excitement of conversing about ambitions and professions with the native speaker, remarking, "Thank you very much for this golden opportunity. We were able to discuss our aspirations with the respective native speaker, and it was truly exhilarating."

With an estimated 425 million native and non-native speakers worldwide, Arabic stands as the fifth most spoken language, marking its global significance. This event served as a pivotal platform, fostering cross-cultural understanding and nurturing a deeper appreciation for linguistic diversity.

Buoyed by the event's resounding success and the positive feedback received, there is enthusiastic anticipation for similar future initiatives. The aim remains to delve further into the intricacies of the Arabic language, transcending geographical boundaries and fostering intercultural exchange among diverse communities.
