SPEAK YOUR MIND

From 27th February till 7th March 2021, Intelligentsia Club had organized “Speak Your Mind” program. There are several themes for the contestants to prepare their speeches such as Art, Media and Culture, College and Career, Economy and Work and many more. Contestants were given the freedom to choose their preferred topic among the listed themes to be discussed and develop arguments based on the criteria they are judged upon.

This competition was held via online platform with Instagram being the main social platform. The contestants promoted their speech videos in stories of their own Instagram as well as the post from official Instagram of UMP Intelligentsia Club.

The event drew attention from local and international students of UMP with a total of 14 contestants who participated in this event. No entrance fee charged to the contestants as Intelligentsia Club created this event intended to instil some valuable knowledge whilst enhancing English proficiency in communication among UMP students. Three winners were chosen by the invited judges namely, Madam Kamaleswary a/p Subramaniam from SJKT Jalan Meru, Madam Rama a/p K. Adam (SK Kajang Utama) and Madam Francisca a/p Sitinathan (Peninsula College) after watching the videos submitted by the contestants. Haridharani a/p Perumal (KA19151) is the first winner of this competition, 1st runner up won by Chloe Chen Sze Yuen (SB20063), and 2nd runner up is Yuganvarma Ramasamy (KH19040). As a whole, the main objective of “Speak Your Mind” had been achieved as it is to provide awareness to students about the importance of English and to nurture their interest in English.
