PRINCIPAL ON DUTY IN THE COVID ERA

One of our CML colleagues, Puan Rosjuliana Hidayu binti Rosli, a senior language teacher is no stranger to Residensi Pelajar 3 or better known as KK3. Going into her fifth-year of principalship, year 2020 completely changed the college living landscape. While the year was prepared with a lot of plans, the global pandemic has broken and shattered everything at one go.

However, despite the difficult year of Covid 2020 which brought in a complete set of new challenges and continues to do so this year, she has risen to the occasion; showing remarkable approaches to crisis management during these unique years in dealing with the concerns of college students.

Even before the pandemic, college students have been facing many challenges including physical, social and emotional trials. Returning to campus after a year since the Covid-19 outbreak makes little to no difference in that regard, in fact, a little bit harsher due to the additional stressor. Being away from home and being completely cut off from outside of campus only adds to the personal challenges. Guided with experiences, this complicated scenario brings out a perspective change in her leadership. New ways of doing and thinking are explored to serve the students’ wellbeing. Coordinating access to food, obtaining personal necessities including toiletries, and even special needs are some of the hurdles that she managed to resolve. Unsurprisingly despite the overwhelming responsibilities during the crisis, she manages to do more than “just get through it”.  All these are the manifestation of her great determination in providing the utmost possible support to everyone at KK3.

As it is a very difficult time for all, her calmness and accountability are genuinely appreciated, and it is heartening to see that she truly takes care of her college “children”. As a final thought, the COVID era might be the biggest test so far, but Puan Rosjuliana's tireless efforts together with other college mates have provided a safety net for the campus community, giving us hope for better days. May Allah s.w.t grant us health and peace of mind to come out of this strong together.
