CML LAUNCHES RECRUITMENT DRIVE WITH SUCCESSFUL WALK-IN INTERVIEW SESSION
KUALA LUMPUR, 3–4 May 2025 – In a proactive move to strengthen its academic team, Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), held its first-ever walk-in interview session for English language lecturer positions. The two-day event, held in conjunction with the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) and Study Committee meetings at Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, received a positive response and encouraging turnout.
A total of 14 applications were received for the walk-in session. Despite a tight schedule and only two days allocated for interview slots, all candidates were successfully accommodated, thanks to the careful planning and teamwork of the organising committee.
The interview sessions were led by Dr. Fatimah Ali, Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, and supported by Dr. Azwin Arif Abdul Rahim, Dr. Abdullah Adnan bin Mohamed (Day 1), and Dr. Wan Jumani Fauzi (Day 2). Six candidates were interviewed on Saturday afternoon, followed by seven on Sunday.
The candidates came from a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds, bringing with them experience in teaching, curriculum development, and applied language studies. The panel noted the strong calibre and commitment shown by the applicants, many of whom expressed genuine interest in contributing to CML’s mission of delivering impactful, student-centred language education.
Beyond candidate assessment, the walk-in format allowed for direct engagement between applicants and CML’s academic leadership, offering a clearer picture of institutional values and expectations. The approach also demonstrated CML’s commitment to streamlined, accessible recruitment practices that attract talent while promoting transparency and inclusivity.
With the sessions now concluded, the panel is currently in the process of finalising decisions. CML expresses its appreciation to all who participated and looks forward to welcoming new additions to its academic team—individuals who are passionate about language education and prepared to support UMPSA’s educational goals.
