BIG TEST DAY: UMPSA STUDENTS SIT FOR MUET IN GAMBANG & PEKAN
GAMBANG, 20 April 2025 - The Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Session 1, 2025 officially took place throughout April, beginning with the Speaking component from 8 to 17 April, followed by the Written test, comprising the Listening, Reading, and Writing papers on 20 April 2025. The examination was conducted concurrently at both the UMPSA Gambang and UMPSA Pekan campuses.
At the Gambang campus, the Speaking test was conducted at the Bilik Latihan UMPSA Advanced, with Dewan Tun Fatimah serving as the quarantine room. Meanwhile, the Listening, Reading, and Writing papers were administered at the Astaka. A total of 200 internal candidates from the Gambang campus registered for the test, with two absentees recorded due to unforeseen circumstances.
On the other hand, a total of 206 candidates registered for MUET at the Pekan Campus. The Speaking test at the Pekan Campus was conducted at the Akademi Adab, while the Written test took place at the Dewan Serbaguna. On the day of the test, two candidates were unable to sit for the examination.
Students arrived early in the morning, prepared with their examination slips and stationery. They were reminded in advance to use only 2B pencils for the multiple-choice sections and were strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones or electronic devices into the exam halls.
Invigilators from across Kuantan and Pekan were fully committed to ensuring that the examination proceeded smoothly and in accordance with the regulations set by the Malaysian Examinations Council (MEC). This was evident through thorough inspections of the halls and rooms, which were conducted a day prior to the tests for both the Speaking and Writing sessions at both campuses. By early afternoon on 20 April, the session concluded successfully, with students exiting the halls in quiet relief, having completed a significant milestone in their university journey.
The smooth execution of the examination was ensured by the diligent efforts and thorough preparation of the MUET coordinators, Alia Najaa binti Md Nor (Gambang campus) and Siti Ainun Jariyah binti Hassan (Pekan campus), as well as the administration staff in charge for the Speaking test, Nurul Syazwani binti Aziz (Gambang campus) and Azizul bin Zainun (Pekan Campus), along with others involved in ensuring the MUET exam ran smoothly.
In summary, MUET plays a critical role in shaping the academic and professional futures of Malaysian students. Achieving a strong MUET result is not only essential for fulfilling graduation requirements, but is also a prerequisite for admission into many postgraduate programmes and professional sectors. The next MUET session is expected later this year, with registration and test dates to be announced by the Malaysian Examinations Council.
