INSPIRING GLOBAL CLASSROOM SESSION ON EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN MEETINGS
PEKAN, 13 June 2025 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) continues to enhance global academic engagement through Global Classroom initiatives, this time focusing on the topic, “Effective Language Skills in Professional Meetings”, a topic that is highly relevant in today’s global and professional settings. The Global Classroom session was organised for students enrolled in the ULE2342 (Degree) and ULE2232 (Diploma), English for Professional Communication course.
The invited guest speaker for the session was Nazira Ayu Pasha, M.PD.,M.A, a respected language educator, who is active in administrative roles and also contributes to the academic community by teaching professional speaking classes for working adults in a private company.
Her engaging presentation and sharing session highlighted effective communication strategies, tips for conducting effective meetings, and roles of team members in meetings. Ms. Nazira Ayu Pasha, M.Pd., M.A., praised the participants for being active and showing great enthusiasm throughout the session.
She also reminded students that participation is vital to an effective meeting, “Every attendee in a meeting plays a role. Whether you are leading, presenting, or listening, your contribution matters. Meetings only succeed when everyone is engaged.”
All the participants were actively engaged in the discussions, Q&A sessions, and the fun activities and games prepared by the speaker. One of the participants, Lee Yu Jie, from The Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology, shared that he learned about which words are suitable to be said during meetings, as well as the roles played by each meeting participants.
Overall, the Global Classroom session is not just an initiative and platform for learning, but also a valuable space for students to build confidence and improve their English proficiency and gain opportunities to learn from another academician from other institutions abroad. It is hoped that this initiative can foster impactful learning experiences and strengthen the global academic network through meaningful collaborations.
