CONNECTING BORDERS WITH GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, INDIA AND UNIVERSITAS TANJUNGPURA, INDONESIA AT CML

PEKAN, 6 May 2026 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) hosted a significant academic gathering today, aimed at shaping the future of language education and international partnerships. The primary objectives of this event were to enhance the visibility of the current postgraduate programs, establish new cross-border collaborations, and share valuable knowledge regarding international grants. CML aims to cultivate a more dynamic, innovative, and globally connected academic environment for its students and staff.

CML recently welcomed its first delegation of academicians and scholars from the Government Arts and Science College, Kondotty, in Kerala, India. The delegation was led by Dr. Abdul Latheef Vennakkadan. During the visit, discussions with the Indian representatives focused on future collaborative projects, potential student and staff exchange programs, and joint research initiatives. "We are deeply impressed by the academic environment here at CML," said Dr. Abdul Latheef Vennakkadan. "This visit has opened up vital avenues for mutual growth. We strongly believe that the proposed joint research initiatives and student-staff exchange programs will immensely benefit both our institutions, bringing fresh, diverse perspectives to our respective campuses."

Following this, CML welcomed its second delegation, hosting prominent academicians from Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) in Indonesia. The visiting delegation from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan - FKIP) included Head of Department Dr. Urai Salam, distinguished lecturer Venny Karolina, and Dr. Yanti Sri Rezeki.

The primary focus of this bilateral discussion was to share helpful ideas and practical experiences regarding the Hornby Grants. By discussing these grants, which support English language teaching projects, both institutions can learn from each other's successes and challenges. These detailed conversations not only provided valuable insights for future grant applications but also deeply strengthened the existing relationship and promoted meaningful regional teamwork between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Through these efforts, CML continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to high-quality education and the continuous growth of its global academic community. The events of the day successfully met the Centre's objectives of fostering innovation and international cooperation. Moving forward, CML is well-prepared to build a brighter, globally connected future for technology-integrated language studies.
