CML WELCOMES MSCTILS POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS
PEKAN, 14 March 2025 – In an effort to provide guidance and foster a sense of academic belonging, the Center for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), conducted a Meet and Greet session for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Technology-Integrated Language Studies (MScTILS) program. The session was held on 14 March 2025, from 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m., at the CML Meeting Room.
The event was chaired by Dr. Azwin Arif Abdul Rahim, Head of Programme (Postgraduate Studies), and was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Hafizoah Kassim, Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies, along with Siti Norzaimalina Abd Majid, one of the course instructors.
The primary objective of the session was to welcome the new MScTILS students and provide a detailed briefing on the academic structure, institutional resources, and expectations of postgraduate study at UMPSA. The session served as a platform to introduce students to key members of the CML staff and guide them to achieve academic excellence and professional development.
In the beginning of the session, Dr. Azwin Arif provided an overview of the program structure, including coursework components, research expectations, and academic milestones. He stressed the need for effective time management, consistent communication with academic supervisors, and active participation in scholarly activities such as colloquia, research presentations, and academic writing workshops.
Furthermore, he highlighted the facilities and support systems available to postgraduate students at CML, such as access to digital learning tools, language laboratories, online databases, and postgraduate consultation hours. During the session, students were given a tour of the postgraduate rooms, meeting rooms and language laboratory, which will serve as the primary venues for their coursework and academic activities. He encouraged students to make full use of these resources throughout their academic journey.
A Q&A session followed, during which students raised questions related to course registration, final project supervision, assessment methods, and the use of e-learning platforms. The session concluded with a group photo and informal interactions among students and academic staff.
Through this initiative, CML continues to demonstrate its dedication to nurturing a supportive academic environment. The centre remains committed to producing graduates who are both academically competent and technologically adept in the field of language studies.
