BJTU ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: INSPIRING SUCCESS STORIES FROM OUR GRADUATES

Gambang, 2 August 2024 – The Chinese Language Group at the Language Center hosted a highly successful sharing session with Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) Alumni. Organized by Mandarin language instructors, Ms. Lee Cheng May and Ms. Kang Mei Feng, the event drew significant participation from both current and prospective students. This year’s session featured outstanding alumnus from the second cohort, Lavnesh A/L Nagenthara Poobathy, Assayidatul Afiqah Binti Nor Hairin and Aida Nadhirah Binti Abdullah Harun.

The session saw the attendance of 23 students from the third cohort, along with approximately 20 students from the fourth cohort. The event commenced with Lavenesh, who provided valuable insights on preparing for the HSK 3 examination. Lavenesh, who had once faced academic challenge in the SPPT 4 course, credited his success to his instructors. His subsequent academic achievements at BJTU have led him progressed into the advanced Chinese class, a group reserved for students with exceptional academic performance. His discussion on language strategies and exam preparation was particularly relevant and beneficial to the attendees.

The session then followed with Assayidatul’s comprehensive presentation on pre-departure preparations. She focused on equipping students with practical advice to avoid the pitfalls encountered by their cohort. Key points included the necessity of activating VPN services prior to departure and the recommended amount of cash to carry when traveling.

The final segment was delivered by Aida, who provided an in-depth overview of campus life at BJTU. Her presentation covered the locations of key academic buildings and dormitories, and she reassured students about the availability of halal dining options on campus. Aida also elaborated on the differences between the academic systems in China and Malaysia, and strongly encouraged students to join the Malaysian Students Association. She emphasized that participation in the association offers students unique opportunities to attend exclusive events, such as banquets hosted by visiting officials.

The event concluded successfully, with the third cohort of BJTU students set to depart for China on September 20th. It is hoped that the insights gained from this session will significantly enhance their preparations for the challenges and opportunities of studying abroad.
