25th July 2023 - The E-Learning Unit at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has reached a significant milestone by successfully organising a three-day, two-nights Micro-Credential Workshop.
Conducted at Grand Darul Makmur Hotel in Kuantan from the 21st to the 23rd of July 2023, the workshop brought together 30 dedicated staff who were actively involved in the development of selected academic courses for CML.
The primary objective of this intensive workshop was to concentrate on the creation of digital content for Micro-Credential academic courses, with a target to have them ready for implementation by the end of 2023. Currently, a total of 7 courses are in the development process, and the workshop aimed to accelerate progress toward their completion.
The event commenced with an inspiring opening speech by the E-Learning Unit Coordinator, Dr. Nor Yazi Khamis, emphasising the importance and purpose of the Micro-Credential Workshop. All module developers were encouraged to focus on producing top-notch digital content that aligns with the university's vision of modern and effective teaching methods.
On the second day, staff members from the Centre of Instructional Resources and e-Learning (CIReL) shared their expertise in the video recording process, adding significant value to the workshop and ensuring the production of high-quality digital content.
The highlight of the workshop was the insightful presentations delivered by the leaders of each module involved in the development of Micro-Credential courses on the last day. The knowledge-sharing sessions benefitted all the participants, shedding light on the best practices and approaches in Micro-Credential course development.
As the workshop drew to a close, Dr. Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi, the Dean of the Centre for Modern Languages, provided valuable feedback to each presentation, with the aim of ensuring that the developed content perfectly complements existing course materials and enhances the overall learning experience for students.
Afterwards, the closing speech by CML Dean marked the end of an enriching and memorable workshop. In her speech, Dr. Nik Aloesnita thanked all module developers for their hard work and efforts throughout the three-day intensive session.
