The course serves as an intervention programme providing the students the opportunity to speak, listen, and write on topics of familiar subjects. It provides students with the fundamentals of the language and a foundation for advancing through the next three required levels of English language courses. Vocabulary development is promoted through receptive activities which are listening and reading. In addition, strong attention is given to production activities which are writing and speaking. The course is defined within the CEFR A2-B1 levels.
By the end of the semester, students should be able to:
CO1 Respond to written tasks based on a variety of audio texts by applying strategic listening techniques and skills
CO2 Identify relevant information in a variety of texts by applying strategic reading techniques and skills
CO3 Write ideas coherently using appropriate vocabulary and language structures
CO4 Describe both concrete and abstract topics in oral communication using appropriate vocabulary and language structures
