The course is designed to equip students with proficiency in the four essential language skills evaluated in IELTS which are Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Emphasis is also placed on refining students’ grammar, active listening skills as well as their vocabulary repertoire which are also crucial for academic success. Students will engage with diverse texts, applying fundamental listening and reading skills to comprehend various selected topics. The course also instructs students to describe visual information as well as present a point of view or argument or problem with emphasis on appropriate style, language and structure. The course further cultivates students' ability to communicate opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences at length using appropriate language based on the IELTS requirements.

CLO1 Respond to written tasks based on a variety of audio texts by applying strategic listening techniques and skills (A2, PLO5)

CLO2 Identify relevant information in a variety of texts by applying strategic reading techniques and skills (A2, PLO5)

CLO3 Write ideas coherently using appropriate vocabulary and language structures (A5, PLO5) CLO4 Describe both concrete and abstract topics in oral communication using appropriate vocabulary and language structures (A5, PLO5)
