YAYASAN UMPSA SCHOLARSHIP 2025: ENGLISH WRITTEN TEST AT UMPSA

PEKAN, 6 May 2025 – As part of the selection process for the Yayasan Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Scholarship 2025, 31 shortlisted candidates sat for the English Written Test today. The assessment, comprising Reading and Writing components, is a crucial step in evaluating applicants’ readiness for academic programmes conducted in English.

The session, held online via Google Meet, was coordinated by the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (SAffAD) of UMPSA. Candidates from various faculties—including FK, FTKEE, FTKPM, FTKKP, FTKMA, FTKA, FSSTI, and FIM—participated in the test, which began with opening remarks by the Chairperson, Norhafizah binti Musa.

The session was then handed over to language instructors from the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) to conduct the test. The Reading Test, administered by Rosnani binti Ismail, started at 9:30 a.m. and lasted for one hour. It assessed the candidates’ ability to interpret and analyse academic texts—skills essential for success at the university level.

Following a short break, the Writing Test commenced at 11:00 a.m., led by Fathiah Izzati binti Mohamad Fadzillah. Candidates were tasked with writing an opinion essay, evaluated based on clarity, coherence, structure, and the ability to support ideas with sound reasoning and relevant examples.

This two-part test ensures that scholarship recipients not only demonstrate strong English proficiency but also exhibit critical thinking and effective communication—qualities vital for academic and future professional success.

For many students, receiving a scholarship eases the financial burden of higher education, reducing the need for part-time work or family support. English proficiency is often a key requirement for such opportunities, as it enables students to actively participate in lectures, coursework, and activities conducted in English. Furthermore, a solid command of the language reflects a candidate’s ability to thrive in diverse academic and cultural environments—an essential trait in today’s globalised world.

Overall, the session proceeded smoothly, with all 31 candidates successfully completing both test components. The results will play a significant role in determining the final list of Yayasan UMPSA Scholarship 2025 recipients. Best wishes to all participants!
