TALKSHOP FINAL SHOWCASE 2025 HIGHLIGHTS REAL-WORLD ENGLISH COMMUNICATION SKILLS
PEKAN, 7 November 2025 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), successfully organised the TalkShop Final Showcase 2025 at the Dewan Kuliah Utama, CML, UMPSA Pekan. The event, held from 2.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m., marked the culmination of Semester 1 2025/2026 English Communication Clinic, themed “Real-World Skills, Real-Time Learning.”
The showcase brought together 27 student participants from both Pekan and Gambang campuses who had taken part in the TalkShop programme. This practical learning platform is designed to enhance students’ English communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills through real-life speaking experiences.
Six outstanding finalists were selected to deliver short speeches during the final showcase. The finalists, comprising two representatives from Gambang campus and four from Pekan campus, demonstrated confidence and creativity as they spoke on topics relating to engineering, technology, and the future job.
The six finalists include Nur Akmal Hafeez, Syed Umar, Muhammad Arif Farhan, Wan Zarith Sofea, Izra Farhan, and Eliyearasi captivated the audience with their insightful and well-prepared speeches. Their topics ranged from the importance of safety in engineering and the influence of smart machines on daily life to the impact of artificial intelligence and robotics in shaping future careers. Each finalist demonstrated confidence, creativity, and clarity in delivering their messages, reflecting the communication skills nurtured through the TalkShop programme.
Their performances were evaluated by a panel of distinguished judges comprising Faiz Fahmi Musa, Assistant Director, Public Relations Department, SASMEC IIUM; Rasyidah Rosli, Talent Management Senior Executive, Hicom Automotive Sdn. Bhd.; and Wan Zahidah Wan Sulaiman, English Lecturer, UNIPSAS. The judges commended the finalists for their strong stage presence, well-structured ideas, and ability to engage the audience through relevant and forward-thinking topics.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks and a montage video introduction, followed by an officiating speech by Dr. Ezihaslinda Ngah, Head of English Language Division, CML. In her speech, Dr. Ezihaslinda congratulated all participants and emphasised the importance of communicative competence in preparing graduates for professional environments.
“TalkShop continues to be an impactful platform where students translate what they learn in class into real-world communication experiences. It is encouraging to see their progress, confidence, and creativity in expressing ideas on global issues,” she remarked.
After an engaging round of speeches, the judges deliberated and announced the winners:
- 🥇 First Place: Izra Farhan (Gambang, online) – My Future Job with AI
- 🥈 Second Place: Eliyearasi (Gambang, online) – How Robots Help People at Work
- 🥉 Third Place: Wan Zarith Sofea (Pekan) – My Future Job with AI
The winners, along with other finalists, received certificates and prizes presented by Dr. Ezihaslinda. Tokens of appreciation were also awarded to the three judges, eight facilitators, and members of the organising committee for their contributions to the success of the programme.
The event concluded with a closing speech by the Programme Director, Nabila Abdul Malek, who expressed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved. “TalkShop is not merely a competition. It is a platform for students to gain confidence, think critically, and communicate effectively. Today’s showcase reflects how much our students have grown, embodying the essence of ‘Real-World Skills, Real-Time Learning,” she said.
The final showcase ended with a group photo session and light refreshments, marking a memorable conclusion to another successful cycle of the TalkShop programme. The event once again demonstrated CML’s commitment to cultivating communicative, confident, and career-ready graduates through experiential language learning initiatives.
