STUDENTS EXPLORE CHINESE DINING ETIQUETTE WITH TIANJIN UNIVERSITY
Gambang, 7 April 2026 - A Global Classroom session was successfully conducted between the Centre for Modern Language (CML) and Tianjin University, China, a Top 500 university. The session focused on Chinese table manners and involved students from the ULM1123 Mandarin 2 course.
The session was facilitated by Language Teacher, Yong Ying Mei, with Associate Professor Dr. Yin Xiaojin from the School of International Education, Tianjin University, as the invited speaker. Dr. Yin introduced the historical origins, core principles, and contemporary practices of Chinese dining etiquette.
Students gained valuable insights into seating arrangements, the proper use of chopsticks, and the importance of respect and harmony during meals. The session enhanced students’ cultural awareness and highlighted the significance of table manners in cross-cultural communication and everyday interactions.
