MUET BAND BREAKTHROUGH WORKSHOP 2026 EQUIPS AST STUDENTS FOR MUET FIRST SESSION 2026

10 April 2026 – Students from the Asasi Sains dan Teknologi (AST) programme had the opportunity to strengthen their MUET preparation through the MUET Band Breakthrough Workshop 2026, which was successfully held at Dewan Tun Fatimah on 10 April 2026.

The one-day workshop, organised by the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), focused on all four MUET components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The workshop aimed to help students gain a better understanding of the examination format while learning practical strategies to approach each section more effectively. The participants, who are candidates for the MUET First Session 2026 beginning on 14 April 2026, were guided throughout the programme to better prepare for the examination.

The morning session began with a briefing on MUET Reading and Listening by Nor Suhardiliana Sahar from the Centre for Modern Languages, who shared useful tips on tackling comprehension tasks and improving test-taking techniques. She later continued with a session on MUET Writing, where students were guided on how to organise ideas, use appropriate language, and produce clearer and more effective written responses.

In the afternoon, Alia Najaa Md Nor, also from the Centre for Modern Languages, conducted the MUET Speaking session. She guided students on how to communicate ideas confidently, respond appropriately, and perform better during speaking tasks. In addition to the instructor’s input, participants actively took part in the two-hour session through a simulated MUET Speaking test, during which they received immediate feedback on their speaking performance. This interactive approach kept students engaged and helped them retain the tips and strategies more effectively. The instructor concluded her session by sharing practical language tips and delivery techniques, highlighting what students should do and avoid in line with MUET requirements.

Overall, the workshop was well structured and informative, providing students with valuable exposure to the demands of the MUET examination. For many participants, it was their first time attending a workshop that focused specifically on each MUET component. The workshop served as a platform to boost students’ confidence and motivate them to prepare more seriously for the test.

Several students shared positive feedback after attending the workshop. Muhammad Amir Syaraff bin Mohd Zaidi said that the session was very helpful, especially because both speakers clearly explained the format of the upcoming MUET examination. He added that the writing session was particularly useful, as he had not previously known how to write an essay that meets MUET expectations. He also appreciated the practical tips shared on how to score better and avoid losing marks unnecessarily.

Similarly, Soong Li Ying described the workshop as very helpful in improving her understanding of the MUET examination format. She shared that the explanation for each component was clear, particularly for the speaking and writing sections, which she found most beneficial. She also mentioned that the workshop offered many practical tips, such as how to structure answers, manage time effectively, and speak more confidently during the test. The examples and sample answers, she said, made it much easier to understand what would be expected in the actual examination. Overall, she felt more confident and better prepared for MUET after attending the session.

Another student, Pehrrambigai Sri A/P S. Ganesh, commented that the workshop was highly beneficial and effective. She noted that it provided useful exposure to answering techniques, time management, and a clearer understanding of the MUET examination format. She also appreciated the interactive activities throughout the workshop, as this encouraged student participation and made the learning process more enjoyable. In her view, the session was well organised, engaging, and informative.

Through programmes such as this, UMPSA, particularly the Centre for Mathematical Sciences and the Centre for Modern Languages, continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing students’ academic excellence and English proficiency, especially in helping foundation students build the skills needed for future success.
