IJLEAL SECURES SCOPUS INDEXING: A DECADE OF GROWTH AND EXCELLENCE

All praise be to the Almighty.

The International Journal of Language Education and Applied Linguistics (IJLEAL) achieved a remarkable milestone by being accepted into Scopus in September 2025. This recognition signifies over a decade of growth, perseverance, and academic excellence for a journal that started its journey in 2014 under Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Press and has been actively managed by the Centre for Modern Languages (CML).

From its humble beginnings, IJLEAL was established to provide a platform for scholars, educators, and practitioners to share impactful research in language education, applied linguistics, and related interdisciplinary areas. Its steady progress was first acknowledged in 2018, when it was indexed in the Malaysian Citation Index (MyCITE), a significant national recognition that validated the journal’s quality and strengthened its visibility within Malaysia’s academic landscape.

Fast forward to September 2025, IJLEAL proudly celebrates its acceptance into Scopus, one of the world’s most prestigious abstract and citation databases. Scopus indexing represents a hallmark of quality and international standing, validating the journal’s rigorous peer-review process, editorial excellence, and consistent contributions to the field. For authors, this recognition means increased visibility, global reach, and more substantial impact in advancing scholarship in language education and applied linguistics.

The success of IJLEAL has been achieved through the dedication and expertise of its committed editorial team. The journal is led by Associate Professor Dr Hafizoah Kassim, along with Associate Editors, Associate Professor Dr Noor Raha Mohd Radzuan, Dr Asiah Kassim, Dr Nor Yazi Khamis, and Dr Ruhil Amal Azmuddin, whose combined leadership maintains the journal’s quality and academic relevance. They are supported by assistant editors Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali and Nurkarimah Yusof, both of whom actively contribute to upholding the journal’s scholarly standards. The journal also recognises the invaluable contribution of Najjahul Huda Hassan, who served as Technical Editor until early 2025, and Siti Muslihah Isnain who served as an Assistant Editor until 2023.

Scopus indexing is both a proud achievement and a new responsibility. It not only elevates IJLEAL’s status globally but also reaffirms its mission to foster innovative research, promote interdisciplinary scholarship, and contribute to academic conversations at the international level. As IJLEAL enters this new chapter, it remains committed to providing a platform for high-quality research in language education and applied linguistics, whilst continuously striving for greater scholarly impact and visibility.

With its Scopus recognition, IJLEAL is well-positioned to further reinforce its role as a beacon of knowledge, connecting researchers across borders and shaping the future of language education.
