HE ELCa 2024 COORDINATION MEETING

31 May 2024 – A pivotal coordination meeting for the Higher Education English Language Carnival 2024 (HE ELCa) convened via the Microsoft Teams platform for 2 hours from 10 am to 12 pm. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Dean of Academic at the Centre for Modern Languages, Dr. Fatimah Ali. The gathering brought together 15 team managers from 15 public universities across Malaysia. The theme for this year, 'Lingo, Tech, and Trads Unite,' was initially introduced, laying the groundwork for the innovative integration of traditional learning methods and contemporary educational tools.

The agenda for the meeting was comprehensive, addressing a range of important topics essential for the successful execution of HE ELCa 2024. These included discussions on various aspects such as competitions, judging procedures, registration processes, and an introduction to the HE ELCa impact study. Additionally, given the simultaneous occurrence of the UMPSA Language Cultural Carnival (LCC) alongside HE ELCa 2024 this year, it presented the perfect opportunity to brief the team managers about this complementary event. The introduction of LCC served to enrich the overall initiative as both events share a common goal of promoting language education and cultural appreciation. Thus, their simultaneous execution amplifies their impact and underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in higher education.

At the conclusion of meeting, a Q&A session was conducted, providing an opportunity for attendees to seek clarifications, share insights, and exchange ideas. This open dialogue allowed all to delve deeper into the topics discussed during the meeting, ensuring that all concerns were addressed comprehensively. With the active engagement of all who attended, the meeting concluded on a highly productive note, setting a solid foundation for collaborative endeavours, leading to fruitful outcomes.
