CSR PROGRAM: TRAINING OF FACILITATOR

PEKAN - On May 10 and 24, 2024, the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) planned and organized a training for facilitators. Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Mandarin Language Society (MLS) collaborated with the Centre for Modern Languages and GIFT Education studio to organize a Community Service (CSR) charity event on career visits and university admission consultation. This training was carried out at Dewan Kuliah Utama (DKU), CML, UMPSA Pekan Campus, and certificates were provided to the facilitators.

The objectives of this training are to provide training for facilitators to increase leadership, language and communication skills and help them to be active in volunteering activities, to balance their academic needs. In addition, the purposes of this training are to help the facilitators, which are from different faculties to get to know each other, to create a close relationship among them by playing some games and the most important thing is to brief them on the program flow and some important information regarding the upcoming CSR Program, including the routes or directions to go to different faculties, as we had also collaborated with 2 different faculties in UMPSA, which are the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE) and Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).

We divided the facilitators into different groups, so that they can lead and take care of the middle school students, who are not familiar with UMPSA’s environment. Besides that, middle school students feel more secure and happy by getting help from well-trained facilitators, especially when visiting the laboratories in different faculties and working on some experiments.

A total of 11 facilitators to take care of 16 students, respectively from the middle school, such as SM Chong Hwa Kuantan, SMJK Hwa Lian, SMK Jerantut, SMK Temin, SMK Tanah Puteh, SMK Semambu, and SJK(C) Mentakab 2 Pahang.

Madam Kang Mei Feng briefed the students on the objectives of this training and provided important information. She presented “Skills to be an Effective Facilitator” during the training, while Ms. Neo Xiu Jie carried out some activities to warm up the atmosphere during the ice-breaking session and to help the students to understand how important it is to stay together in a line when working on a project and how to create a great teamwork spirit. Last but not least, to brief the facilitators about the routes to different faculties and to make sure all the assigned tasks were arranged properly as well as to make sure the whole progress will be run smoothly on the actual day, so that they were all ready to help the middle school students.
