GLOBAL CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS CHINA’S TRANSPORTATION PROWESS AND MALAYSIAN SYNERGY

GAMBANG, 20 January 2026 – The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) successfully conducted a Global Classroom session in collaboration with Heilongjiang University, China.

CML was honoured to host Professor Dr. Zhang LiHong from Heilongjiang University, who delivered an engaging lecture titled “Transportation in China.” The session provided ULM1113 Mandarin 1 students, under the guidance of Madam Yong Ying Mei, with valuable exposure to developments in global transportation and mobility.

The lecture offered an in-depth exploration of China’s world-class rail networks, particularly its 37,000-kilometre high-speed rail system, which plays a vital role in bridging urban and rural economies.

In addition, the session highlighted sustainable innovation, offering participants insights into China’s global leadership in the electric vehicle (EV) market and its strong commitment to reducing carbon emissions through green technology.

The discussion also emphasised the strengthening Malaysia–China synergy, outlining how strategic collaborations such as the Geely–Proton partnership and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project are transforming Malaysia’s industrial and transportation landscape towards a more connected and prosperous future.

This collaboration reflects CML’s commitment to providing students with global perspectives by integrating language learning with real-world industry insights. As Malaysia moves towards the operational launch of the ECRL in 2027, such academic exchanges play a crucial role in preparing students for a hyper-connected global environment.

CML extends its appreciation to Professor Dr. Zhang LiHong from Heilongjiang University for delivering an enriching and insightful session.
