CML EKSA TEAM LEVELS UP!

Pekan, 13 January 2025 – Several staff members from the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) attended the UMPSA Ekosistem Kondusif Sektor Awam (EKSA) Internal Auditor Workshop 2025 organised by the Centre for Strategic and Quality Management, UMPSA. The two-day workshop was held on 13-14 January at the Banquet Hall, UMPSA Pekan.

The invited guest speaker was TS. Muhaimin Mustaqim bin Jamaludin, Senior Assistant Secretary (Quality Section) at the Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan (PSUK) Negeri Pahang, is a distinguished expert and an invaluable resource in all matters pertaining to EKSA. According to TS. Muhaimin Mustaqim, EKSA is an ongoing practice aimed at creating a more conducive and systematic workplace environment. Small but continuous efforts involving all employees are key steps in realising EKSA in the workplace.

This workshop aimed to expose participants to the guidelines for cultivating and empowering EKSA in the public sector, as well as the assessment and scoring mechanisms for EKSA audits at the beginning of the workshop. Then, the workshop brought together both new and experienced EKSA internal auditors from CML during the afternoon session. The new EKSA auditors from CML are Siti Ainun Jariyah Hassan, Hanisah Bon (Kasbon), and Leong Hui Teng. Meanwhile, the experienced EKSA auditors are Rosnani Ismail, Nurul Nadia Mohammad, Hamizah Zahari, and Jamilah Bebe Mohamad.

Hanisah Bon (Kasbon), the CML EKSA Unit Coordinator, remarked that this workshop marks a development in her knowledge of managing EKSA at CML zone. "This has helped me gain a better understanding and enabled me to practice EKSA more effectively together with CML staff," she stated. Previously involved only in the management and implementation of EKSA at CML, she has now expanded her knowledge in the field of EKSA auditing.
On the second day, participants were given hands-on sessions with mock EKSA audits in selected zones include Canseleri Tun Abdul Razak (CTAR) and Library. They had the opportunity to visit these zones and gain experience on how the actual EKSA process is conducted. This hands-on experience not only provided the opportunity to conduct audits on-site but also offered a clearer perspective on good EKSA practices. Furthermore, it highlighted how these practices can benefit or negatively impact other employees.

At the end of the workshop, participants listened to the presentation of EKSA audit findings, which provided insights into preparing a good and effective EKSA report. This EKSA internal auditor workshop provided effective exposure and served as a good preparation for both new and current auditors.

In conclusion, this workshop provided an excellent opportunity for CML staff to enhance their knowledge of EKSA practices, ensuring that the CML building can adopt and implement best practices effectively. It is hoped that the input from this workshop can be applied effectively during the upcoming UMPSA EKSA audits.
