A SERIES OF MUET TALK
Malaysian University English Test or known as MUET is a proficiency test conducted for candidates who wish to further their studies in local universities in Malaysia. In Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), the Competency Unit under Centre for Modern Languages (CML) is responsible for handling MUET matters from setting up UMP as an examination centre, registering UMP candidates for the exam and also offering classes for UMP MUET candidates. Another initiative from the unit has been created to help the UMP community to understand the flow and the process of MUET exam registration and also the needs of the MUET test.
The session named MUET Talk was introduced and there were three sessions altogether. Madam Noor Azlinda Zainal Abidin represented the unit and delivered the MUET Talk. She focused on the flow, the process of MUET registration, format of MUET and all the four components involved in MUET. Other than her, Madam Noraisah Nurul Fatwa and Madam Nur Syazwani attended two of the sessions. The first session of MUET Talk was conducted on Saturday on 10 July 2021 via Google Meet at 10am. It was arranged by the head of the program, Dr Siti Kholijah Abdul Mutalip for undergraduate students. Then, it was followed by another talk given to a group of part time students under UMP Advanced Education. This second session was held on Sunday 11 July 2021.About 87 part time students attended the one hour session. There was a Q & A session after the presentation to allow students to get the answers immediately given by the presenter. The final MUET Talk was then conducted to all first semester diploma students. The invitation came from the Centre for Diploma and Foundation. It was held on Wednesday afternoon 18 August 2021 via Microsoft teams.About 200 students attended the talk and benefited from it.
The Competency unit strives to make improvements on the services offered. However, with this new initiative it is hoped that with this two way communication and immediate responses involved, the process of registering students for MUET can be done better than before.
