UMPSA SHINES AT THE HE ELCA 2024 GREEN CITY CHALLENGE

UMPSA Gambang, 9 November 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) team made a memorable impression at the Green City Challenge during the Higher Education English Language Carnival (HE ELCa) 2024. The event, which was held at the university's sports complex, featured 14 distinguished teams from various public universities, showcasing their creativity and innovation for the challenge.

The UMPSA team, comprising Muhammad Hafiz bin Abd Baki, Muhammad Haziq bin Zulkifli, Muhammad Farris Haeikal bin Nazri, Muhammad Nur Iman bin Shamsudin from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology, and Ahmad Zaim bin Zakaria from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, prepared diligently for two weeks leading up to the event. Their dedication culminated in a booth that showcased UMPSA’s unique identity and commitment to sustainability.

Guided by two language teachers, Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali as the team manager and Amy Zulaikha as the trainer, the booth featured eco-friendly elements and futuristic designs, underscoring UMPSA’s dedication to environmental innovation. The team’s efforts highlighted their technical expertise and creativity in promoting sustainable practices.

The booth featured a Recycling Challenge, an interactive activity where visitors identified recyclable items to place in designated bins, promoting sustainability in a fun and educational manner. A live Kahoot quiz, conducted using COMMBOX, further engaged visitors with entertaining and informative questions on environmental topics.

One of the main attractions was the UMPSA Green Campus Exhibition, a miniature model of the university campus crafted entirely from recycled materials. This exhibit reflected UMPSA’s vision for sustainability and showcased the students' ingenuity and hard work. Visitors were also excited to win real cacti as prizes, which drew a steady stream of participants to the booth's activities.

Although UMPSA team did not win the competition, their creativity, dedication, and teamwork left a lasting impression on visitors and participants alike. The university commends the team’s hard work, perseverance, and innovative spirit, which exemplifies UMPSA’s commitment to a greener future.
