UHE3132 ONLINE GLOBAL CLASSROOM

On March 17, 2023, the Public Speaking course UHE3132 at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) achieved a remarkable milestone by hosting a transformative Global Classroom (GC) session via Zoom.

The event connected pre-university level students from Xin Zhong International School, Indonesia, with students from UMP who were enrolled in the Public Speaking course during the second semester of 2022/2023.

The meticulously organized session, titled 'Persuasive Speech,' was a resounding success and aimed to empower individuals with the ability to influence and inspire through effective communication.

Spearheaded by the skilled coordination of Ms. Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali, the course coordinator, and co-taught by Ms. Nur Anisnabila Dianah, a language instructor from the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), the session proved to be an invaluable learning experience for all participants.

Throughout the session, students were introduced to a range of essential topics, with a primary focus on crafting powerful and impactful arguments that resonate with audiences. Ms. Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali, with her expertise, skillfully demonstrated techniques to present ideas in a compelling and convincing manner, leaving participants equipped to sway hearts and minds effectively.

One of the central themes of the lecture was mastering vocal delivery. Students learned the art of using tone, pace, and emphasis to captivate listeners and maintain their undivided attention throughout their speech. Ms. Noraisah's guidance on this aspect provided students with valuable insights into the power of voice modulation in creating an engaging presentation.

The significance of body language in persuasive speaking was another pivotal aspect covered in the session. Led by Ms. Nur Anisnabila Dianah, participants gained a deeper understanding of how confident gestures, posture, and eye contact play an important role in bolstering credibility and enhancing persuasive impact.

Students were also guided with effective tips to effectively organise and deliver their speech. At the end of the session, a fundamental yet interactive activity was administered, with the intent of further enriching their comprehension.

The lecture was then concluded with a strong focus on the art of crafting an impactful call-to-action that inspires action and compels listeners to take desired steps. Armed with newfound skills and knowledge, attendees logged off the event with renewed enthusiasm to excel in their online communication endeavours.

The Global Classroom session served as an exceptional platform for cross-cultural learning and exchange, allowing students from Xin Zhong International School and UMP to interact and engage in a meaningful educational experience despite geographical barriers.

The event not only enriched the participants' public speaking skills but also fostered valuable connections and a spirit of camaraderie among the students. The success of this Global Classroom session reflects UMP's ongoing commitment to providing innovative and impactful learning opportunities for its students, further solidifying its position as a leading institution in academic excellence and cross-border collaboration.
