MUET Online Speaking Session in the Midst of Global Pandemic

11 February 2021- Since the outbreak of Covid-19 a year ago, the pandemic has changed the way we live our lives. In spite of all the chaos and yet another round of lockdowns across the nation, Competency Unit of Centre for Modern Languages (CML) managed to organise a free MUET online speaking class to accommodate UMP MUET candidates with the necessary preparation particularly because the first time the new format is used. The test is scheduled from 17th until 25th, February 2021.

A senior language teacher in the department, Farah Liyana Ahmad A’Azmey, an experienced MUET Speaking examiner, was invited to hold a 2-hour session to more than 70 UMP students via Google Meet. The session started at 2:45 pm with a brief introduction of the new format, followed by evaluation and tips, and a Q&A session at the end of the session. The session ended at 4:45 pm.

Although the main objective of this online session is to prepare students for their upcoming test, it is also sincerely hoped that this would offer small moments of joy and hope to students who are otherwise facing tremendous anxiety in which subsequently would continue to spread positive messages in times of trouble. Kudos to all who attended this online class and all the best!
