MALAY LANGUAGE TEACHER PRESENTED THREE PAPERS AT SEMINAR LINGUISTIK DAN BAHASA 2023

The Seminar Linguistik Dan Bahasa 2023 (Linguistics and Language Seminar, Series 2), took place successfully on June 15, 2023.

The conference was organized by the School of Humanities (Pusat Pengajian Ilmu Kemanusiaan) and the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (Pusat Pengajian Bahasa, Literasi dan Terjemahan), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

It was held at Eureka Complex, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang with a total of 31 papers presented by researchers, academicians, undergraduates, and postgraduate students in various themes related to languages and linguistics.

The theme for the conference was " Linguistik dan Bahasa Dalam Masyarakat Madani". Among notable attendees were Professor Dr. Salasiah Che Lah, the Dean of the School of Languages, Literacies & Translation (USM), Associate Professor Dr. Adi Yasran Abdul Aziz, SLIBA 2023 speaker, and Mr. Rusdi Abd Rahman, Deputy Head of the Promotion and Recognition Division (Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Kuala Lumpur).

According to Associate Professor Dr. Jasni Sulong, Dean of the School of Humanities, the conference aimed to facilitate intellectual and academic discussions on various themes at both local and international levels.

Meanwhile, Mr. Khairul Anum Mohd Ali, the Deputy Director of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Utara Wilayah, highlighted that the conference provided a great opportunity for all presenters and participants to discuss and share the theories used and at the same time to glorify the Malay language.

Among the contributors was Ms. Jamilah Bebe, a language teacher at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She presented three research papers at the conference, one individually and the other two in collaboration with academicians from other institutions. The title of the papers are as follows:

Overall, the conference served as a great platform for researchers, academics, and students to share any issues, innovations, and challenges that are related to the Malay language.
